OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The Kansas Department of Transportation says Johnson County drivers should expect delays for the next seven months as a major highway ramp is closed for construction.

KDOT crews will close the ramp from eastbound Interstate 435 to northbound US 69 at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The ramp will remain closed around the clock through October 2013, weather permitting.

The ramp will be closed so construction crews can work on bridge pier No. 3 for the new southbound US 69 to College Boulevard ramp bridge.

Eastbound traffic wanting to go north on US 69 will continue east to the Antioch Road interchange and then head back west on I-435 to US 69.

Drivers should expect delays in the area from now until October and are encouraged to find an alternate route.
