Water main break closes south KC road

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Holmes Road in South Kansas City will be closed between 108th and 109th streets for at least the next three days after a water main break caused the road to collapse.

Kansas City, Mo., Water Department officials said it was a 6-inch water line break. They hope to get one southbound lane open Wednesday afternoon.

Neighbors are frustrated because this is the second time they've been without water due to a water main break in just two weeks. One neighbor who recently returned from the hospital with her husband said she will have to go  out and stock up on bottled water.

Neighbors were told their water would be back on by late this evening but traffic will be detoured for days.

Traffic will be diverted onto Red Bridge Road and over to Wornall.
