KANSAS CITY, Missouri - When severe weather is a threat, do you know the difference between a watch and a warning? The National Weather Service says half the population doesn’t know.
A tornado watch, for example, means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms and possibly a tornado.
A tornado warning means a tornado is expected and you should take cover immediately.
If you’re ever concerned or confused about the weather, turn to NBC Action News and our weather staff will keep you up to date.
For added protection, you can buy a weather radio so you always know where there is a watch or warning in your area.
