ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. - CLICK HERE FOR LIVE VIDEO FROM STORM CHASERS AT THE SCENE
There are reports of people trapped in homes and businesses, after a massive storm system that's been raking the Southeast pounded the Georgia town of Adairsville, about 60 miles northwest of Atlanta.
Video showed a funnel cloud roaring through the downtown area, flipping cars and demolishing a home. Large sections of a manufacturing plant appeared to be destroyed.
Interstate 75 is closed in both directions, after the storm flipped cars onto their roofs and tossed them onto the shoulder.
At least one person is confirmed dead in the town. A fire chief says the body was found amid the storm damage. The same system was also blamed for a death in Tennessee.
Officials confirm that a tornado touched down in the Tennessee community of Mount Juliet, leaving a path of damage about 150 yards wide.
