WAYNESVILLE, Mo. - Missouri floodwaters claimed a mother's life after the area was hit with heavy rain, causing dangerous flooding.
Jessica Lee, 23, and her 4-year-old son, Elyjah were swept away in their car Tuesday morning near Waynesville, Mo.
Elyjah's body was found the same day. Searchers recovered Jessica’s body late Friday.
"Mother Nature last night returned the body of Jessica Lee to us and to the family. This morning the clouds stopped, the rain has stopped and it's time for us to recover. We ask for your hopes, your best wishes and your prayers and thank you very much for your support," Pulaski County Sheriff Ron Long said.
Authorities say Lee managed to call 911 and escape the vehicle before being swept off the road.
