KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Wednesday will be another day without school for many families in the metro. For some, it will be the fourth snow day in the last week.
Many parents tell us they are relying on other parents and social media for ideas on how to keep their kids entertained.
Lori Tubbs Garcia decided after the first snow day it was time to turn entertainment into something educational. So, she decided it was time to give her first and fourth grader some math problems to solve. She took a picture of it and posted it on Facebook.
"When I posted the picture of them doing math all my friends said I thought you were a fun mom?" Garcia said.
Garcia's homebound homeschooling did include fun science experiments like creating a volcano with baking soda and vinegar.
"They've been great I think they actually like it. I think kids love being busy and active."
They also used the vinegar for another experiment where you soak a hardboiled egg for 12 hours in vinegar. The vinegar is supposed to eat away the eggshell. Just one of the ideas Garcia found on social media websites to keep her family busy on a day they would normally be in school.
