JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. - Farmers in southern Johnson County are experiencing the same symptoms of drought facing farmers throughout the Midwest.
Tom Boehm has a farm near Spring Hill, Kan. His corn fields are dry and brown from excessive heat and the lack of rain.
"It breaks my heart because we've worked so hard," Boehn said.
He said they will have a much smaller harvest this year and will probably earn less than half of what they earned last year.
Boehn said that without Federal Crop Insurance, many farmers would go bankrupt.
