KANSAS CITY, Mo - Those who love snow have been missing the chance to go sledding and throw snowballs.
Monday's been their first chance for that kind of family fun.
The Smith's built their own hill with snow shoveled off the driveway of their home in the Northland.
Noah and Madi, ages 5 and 3, finally get to play in the white stuff.
Madi told us she "...threw snowballs at mommy."
Mom gets a workout while playing with the kids.
Cari smith said, "It's been a super boring winter for them. They've been really bummed out about the lack of snow."
It's family day at the grocery store too.
A mother -daughter brunch turns to talk of ways to go sledding.
Skylar Benjamin, a 10-year-old, said, "Sometimes I go down like a penguin."
That means going face first... and maybe getting a faceful of snow.
"It feels like I just got woken up with a cold bucket of water," said Skylar.
A snow day if fun, but Skylar's old enough to know that she'll pay for it later this summer when she has to stay in school longer.
Skylar said, "Last year we had like nine, and we went until like the middle of... into the summer break, and I didn't like it last year."
The first real snowfall this winter brought out shoppers in snow boots and babies in blankets.
Abbie Bonds took Violet out to play in the first snow the eight-month old had ever seen.
Bonds said, "We took her out first thing this morning, and stuck her in the snow. She loved it, she was digging around and playing in it, staring. She wasn't quite sure what to do."
The slippery morning turned into a sloshy lunch hour, and then to worries of an icy evening as some of the melted snow stated to refreeze on the roads.
