KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Several water companies are asking residents to voluntarily conserve water.
City officials in Olathe, Kan., are asking homeowners to water between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., preferably only every other day.
In Plattsburg, Mo., the water department is asking the same thing.
In both cases, the water restrictions are voluntary. Officials emphasize they're not running out of water -- it is just a precaution.
Since the beginning of the month, homeowners in Lee's Summit, Mo., have been encouraged to use their sprinklers every other day.
