KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The slipping and sliding we saw after Thursday’s winter storm is back. Refreezing overnight made lesser traveled side streets a headache again for Friday’s morning commute.

Michael Hill, of the Sports Car Club of America, met our 41 Action News crew in the parking lot of Arrowhead Stadium for a quick lesson. After watching cars slip and slide Thursday, he thinks everyone could use a teaching moment.

"When I left my house and came up 71 Highway, in the first six miles, I saw eight cars off the road," Hill explained.

Hill knows when roads are covered with ice and snow, automobiles prefer to do one thing at a time.

"Any sudden movement with any of those is going to cause the car to get a little squirrely, lose control," he explained. Pumping the breaks really doesn't do any good in the ice or on the snow," Hill said.

Break or turn -- the decisions yours. However, don't try to do both.

“The first time you experience it, you really don't want it to be in a situation where you're going to correct or you're going to crash," Hill said.

As a member of the Sports Car Club of America, Hill works to teach teens how to survive challenging road conditions. To learn more, visit http://tinyurl.com/cavv2xd .
