(NECN: Marnie MacLean) - 17-year-old Brian Genest is back home in Auburn, Maine after photos from his family vacation in Florida went viral.
Genest was on a nature trail when he saw what looked like a friendly squirrel. He got closer and took a selfie with the furry little guy.
Moments later, the squirrel made it clear he wasn't happy with the selfie and he attacked Genest, jumping on his back and crawling under his shirt.
"Right after that I was just flailing around like crazy. He was under my shirt and I could feel his claws, it was a little freaky," Genest recalled.
Genest's mom captured the event on her camera as Brian tried to get the squirrel off his back. He eventually dropped to the ground and the squirrel ran back into the woods.
A family member posted the photos of a squirrel selfie gone wrong, and now media outlets as far away as India have posted the photos.
