Weekend events in Kansas City: Halloween fun for all ages

Halloween is almost here, and there's plenty of ghoulishly fun ways to mark the last weekend before the big day in and around Kansas City.

Here's a look at some Halloween-themed events happening this weekend in Kansas City and surrounding areas.

We've tried to include some that would be fun for all ages, though not all of the events would be appropriate for all ages.

Pandemonium at the Temple
The Temple – Downtown Kansas City

This adults-only (21 and up) party starts at 9 p.m. Friday at The Temple in downtown Kansas City. Dubbed a "Halloween Party experience you will never forget," the $50 admission gets you into the two-level bash and access to the open bar.

Terror 10 at the Train Station
Union Station – Kansas City

Kansas City's historic Union Station is hosting its 10th annual Halloween party on Friday. Sorry, kids. This one's for the older folks, too. Tickets are $45 and include an open bar. The party starts at 8 p.m.

Trick or Treat on the Farm and Boooo Barn
National Agricultureal Hall of Fame

Here's one for the kiddos. This family-friendly event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. The $5 admission gets you into a haunted barn and features trick or treating, spooky stories and a costume fashion show, along with a miniature train and hayrides.

Haunted Houses/Corn Mazes
Various locations

These aren't necessarily for the young bucks of the family, but if you're a teenager (or a teen at heart), you're sure to love Kansas City's haunted attractions. KC Live! Haunted House Party
Power & Light District – Downtown Kansas City

Back to the big people parties! The party starts at 9 p.m. Saturday in the center of the Kansas City Power & Light District and includes a midnight costume party, a live DJ and more than $5,000 in prizes.

Boo at the Zoo
Kansas City Zoo

Take the kids trick or treating with the animals at the Kansas City Zoo. There's plenty of attractions, including parades and live entertainment. Boo at the Zoo runs Saturday and Sunday during the zoo's normal hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Boo Ball
Emaline Ballroom – Lee's Summit

41 Action News anchor and reporter Cynthia Newsome will serve as the host for Saint Luke's East Hospital's major fundraiser of the year, held at 7 p.m. Saturday. Event organizers promise a night full of surprises and disguises, magical expressions and spine-tingling sounds and devilish delights. Online registration is closed, but a limited number of walk-up tickets are available.

Night of the Living Farm – Week 2
Deanna Rose Farmstead – Overland Park, Kan.

Here's another family-friendly event for the parents! The second week of events, scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, include a haunted barn, flashlight scavenger hunt, haunted horse-drawn hayride, a dancing stage and more.

Enchanted Forest
George Owens Nature Park – Independence, Mo.

This one's for children ages 3 to 9. Effie the Forest Fairy will lead you and your little ones through the Enchanged Forest on a candlelit trail of storybook characters and fairy tales that come to life. An old-fashioned hayride past a light display will conclude the night. The fun begins at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Halloween Hustle
Unity Village – Lee's Summit

Want to celebrate the spook inside you, but not into kids' events or the big-people parties? How about a charity race with 5K and 10K options and costume contests? Halloween Hustle begins at 7 a.m. Saturday. Registration is $40.
