KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City-area teenager is one of eight finalists in a national talent search and will fly to Los Angeles this month to star in a reality web series about the competition.
The KIDZ Star USA web series, featuring celebrity mentor Gavin DeGraw, will be available on VEVO this fall.
More than 50,000 tweens entered the 15-and-under contest. Rylie Brown, 15, of Lee's Summit, is the oldest finalist.
"That's the great thing about art is it's to express yourself. So I love being able to do that and being on stage. You get to be heard for the few minutes you're up there and I love that feeling," Brown said.
Rylie and the other seven youngsters are prepping for a trip to the City of Angels, where they'll compete for a chance to win a recording contract with RCA records, a starring role in a music video and a spot in the next KIDZ BOP TV commercial.
"Sometimes I can't even get her to go to bed at night because she's in the bathroom playing the guitar and her piano. It's something that I couldn't make her stop if I wanted to because it's just in her," said her mother Lori Brown.
In her audition video entry into the competition, Rylie san "Heart Attack" by Trey Songz. You can watch it here: http://bit.ly/Rc3j1d
