As kids gear up to head back to school, mom and dad are gearing up for more packed school lunches. James Buddig from Buddig Lunch Meat demonstrates how to add a little fun in those lunches.

Lion Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices Buddig Premium Deli Oven Roasted Turkey
  • 2 slices honey wheat bread
  • 1 tsp. mayo
  • 2 leaves lettuce
  • 2 slices American cheese
  • 1 strawberry
  • 1 slice provolone cheese
  • 1 small blueberry
  • 2 oranges

Directions:

  1. Lay out bread and spread mayo on one slice.
  2. Place lettuce, one slice of American cheese and Buddig Premium Deli Oven Roasted Turkey on top of mayo.
  3. Combine to make a sandwich.
  4. Press a cup or cookie cutter down onto the sandwich to cut out a large circle. Set on plate.
  5. Cut strawberry in half. Place half in the center of the sandwich as a nose.
  6. Cut two circles out of the provolone and place on sandwich as eyes.
  7. Cut blueberry in half. Place halves on top of cheese as pupils.
  8. Cut 6 slivers out of the second slice of American cheese and place around the strawberry as whiskers.
  9. Align orange slices around the sandwich as a mane.
  10. Cut and fold leftover bread into ear and mouth shapes and place on and around sandwich.
