Predictions of the 2014 Oscars

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The 2014 Oscars will feature close races in many of the 24 categories.

The heavy favorites heading into Sunday are 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle, but I have a feeling it's not going to go according to plan.

Expect Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney to steal the show. The film is nominated for 10 Academy Awards and is likely to take home seven. This would be a huge boost for Hollywood films.

More than half of the films nominated for Best Picture this year are indie films. Gravity is considered the odd film out. The action/drama scored big at the box office, landing a domestic gross of $269 million. If it wins at least four Oscars, it will be a big nod to those films pushing the boundaries in terms of digital technology.
