The Color Dash 5K hits Parkville:

You're going to get covered in brightly colored chalk, and you don't need to be an expert runner - this is just for fun. You can even walk!

That starts at 10 a.m Saturday, July 19 at English Landing Park. You can register right now online.

Kansas Speedway:

Pack up your junk and head on over to the Kansas Speedway this weekend. There's a big swap meet happening there Friday, July 18 and Saturday, July 19.

Don't worry if you're not a race fan. There's something there for everyone -- from car parts to antiques. It's $5 to get in. The meet is going on right now -- runs until 7:00 pm, Friday night. On Saturday it runs from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Bridal Spectacular:

Maybe you can pick up something borrowed or blue there and you're set for your wedding day. If you still need something new you could head to the Bridal Spectacular in Overland Park.  It's all happening Sunday, July 20 at the Overland Park Convention Center and is a great event for brides-to-be. While there, you can get a look at wedding dresses, meet with wedding planners and get some ideas for the honeymoon.

Advance tickets are $10 and they can be picked up at HyVee Grocery Stores. You can also pay $12 at the door on Sunday, July 20.

Hot Stiletto Free Social Shoe Club:

If you needed an excuse to put on your best high heels, you have one this weekend. And the cool thing? You can help other women by doing so.

The Hot Stiletto Free Social Shoe Club is hosting a shoe party on Sunday, July 20. Proceeds go to the Newhouse Domestic Shelter. It's $25 to get in.

That's happening from 5 p.m. -10 p.m. at the Hillcrest Golf and Country Club on Sunday.

Nelson Atkins Museum Picnic:

If a picnic is more your style, then there's a big one happening Sunday, July 20 from 5 a.m-8p.m at the Nelson Atkins Museum on

Here are a few highlights:

  • The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park and Theis park, between Oak and Rockhill on Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd.
  • You can lay your blanket down in designated areas to become part of a giant Checkerboard-patterned display
  • There will be musicians, children's activities, games, food truck
  • You can be part of a commemorative aerial picture taken from a multi-rotor camera at 7:15 p.m.
  • There is free parking at MRI Global which is located at 425 Volker Blvd.
  • And guess what? Your favorite 41 Action News personalities will be there too!
