'Today' co-host Savannah Guthrie talks about starting her career in Missouri

You see her every morning on the Today Show, but did you know co-host Savannah Guthrie started her TV career in Missouri?

She talked to 41 Action News Today in New York City during a behind the scenes tour of the Today Show in April.

"I just have great fond memories of Missouri.  I think it's one of the most beautiful states. I used to love to kind of just drive around on the rolling hills," Guthrie said about her first reporting job from 1993 to 1995 at a station in Columbia, MO. "It was the first real winter I experienced because I came from Tucson, Arizona. I didn't know what those white flakes coming down from the sky were. I had to learn how to drive in the snow."

Guthrie said she used to fly home to Arizona out of KCI and would drive over to the Country Club Plaza to do some shopping.

"Kansas City was the big city for me. I would go there sometimes on the weekends. I love Missouri. I had the best time there,” said Guthrie. "One of my great memories in life is living there being young and getting started in this business."
