Sarah Hollenbeck - Reporter

Sarah Hollenbeck joined the 41 Action News team in July 2012.

Born and raised in Chicago, Sarah will always be a Cubs fan and a "Chi-Town" girl at heart; but she’s happy as long as she’s in the Midwest, where she’s found the most charming people, restaurants and music scene.

Sarah joined the team after spending three years working as a reporter, web producer, and photographer at NBC-2 in Fort Myers, FL. There she focused on county politics and environmental stories, winning several AP awards for breaking news and continued coverage.

Prior to that, Sarah spent three years working at NBC affiliate KOMU-8 in Columbia, Missouri.

In Mid-Missouri, Sarah covered a series of stories about littered front yards in rural Howard County. County commissioners claimed they could not enforce their measures on unkempt property outside of city limits. The media attention from Sarah's stories led to a new city ordinance and the cleanup of dozens of properties.

Sarah is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism. She received a bachelor's degree with Magna Cum Laude honors. At Mizzou, she served as the president of the local RTNDA (Radio Television News Directors Association) chapter and received the President's Award from the RTNDA national organization.

When she isn't chasing stories at 41 Action News, Sarah enjoys running, bike riding, spending time with her dogs Saydi and Eddie and finding new places to explore in Kansas City.

If you see Sarah around town, please say hello. One thing she loves about journalism is the opportunity it gives her to meet new people. She loves listening to stories, and is passionate about re-telling them.
