The number of consumers who paid American Shingle for a new roof and never received one is growing while the company remains under investigation.
KANSAS CITY, Missouri - The investigation grows into a national roofing company which
left thousands of customers, including people in Kansas City,
feeling ripped off.

So far, Call For Action has received a dozen complaints about
American Shingle from homeowners like Wayne Nesmith.
"It’s no different than someone coming into your home with
a gun, pointing a gun at you, telling you to give them your
money,” Nesmith says.
American Shingle approached Nesmith to replace his roof last
spring. Nesmith's insurance company paid AS over $7,200. That check
was cashed in June.
Today, Nesmith is still without a new roof.
"The selling point for me was there was not going to be any out
of pocket money. They would handle everything through the insurance
company," he said.
Signs on the door of the company’s Lenexa location show a
notice of eviction.
It’s being investigated by attorney generals across the
country including Kansas and Missouri.
The Missouri attorney general office tells Call For Action,
they've received 90 consumer complaints so far.
The Kansas attorney general, as well as district attorneys in
Johnson County and Wichita, are part of a joint investigation.
