UPDATE | The Platte County Sheriff's Office has
identified the woman found dead
near the Platte Falls Conservation Area.
PLATTE COUNTY, Missouri - Members of the Missouri State Water Patrol Dive Team searched the bottom of the Platte River Wednesday for evidence in a recent homicide.
On June 1, a fisherman discovered a woman's body along the river near the Platte Falls Conservation Area.
Authorities have not released an official identity, pending lab results, but say the victim was a short-haired brunette woman. Her cause of death has also not been released.
Investigators believe she was fishing in the area sometime between May 30 and June 1.
According to the Platte County Sheriff's Department, the woman was operating an older brown Chevrolet pickup truck in the area during that timeframe.
The dive team concluded their search at around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday. The items collected will be reviewed to determine if they have evidentiary value in the case.
