PLATTE COUNTY, Mo. - It doesn't look too inviting. But the owner of Snow Creek says the brown spots covering the ski runs will be covered with snow by the weekend.
The Platte County ski destination is set to open its 26th season Saturday even though temperatures are expected to soar into the 60s Wednesday.
Owner Dave Grenier said the snow making equipment should be able to churn out sufficient amounts snow if the thermometer dips below freezing by Thursday.
He expects 500 to 1,000 visitors for opening day and hopes to have the slopes covered with one to four feet of man-made snow.
