5 fun things to do in Kansas City April 27-28

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Event season has begun! Warmer temperatures will grace the Kansas City area this weekend, and there are plenty of great things to do this weekend.

Here are five fun things to do in or around Kansas City on Saturday and Sunday:

1. The Chalkwalk in the Historic Northeast

Watch as a mundane concrete sidewalk is transformed by artists using sidewalk chalk. The free event is at The Concourse in Kessler Park on Saturday and Sunday.

2. Legoland's 1st Birthday party!

Legoland is celebrating one year with a birthday party at Crown Center square from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The event is free to the public.

3. The Royals take on Cleveland

Head out to Kauffman to see the Kansas City Royals play the Cleveland Indians. The teams play both Saturday and Sunday.

4. The 10th annual Parkville Microbrew Fest

The event, on Saturday at English Landing Park in Parkville, will include fine crafted beer, grilled food and live music. Admission starts at 11 a.m. and samplings start at 1 p.m. Tickets at the gate are $30.

5. Cupcake Camp KC 2013

It's a family-oriented event for cupcake lovers of all sizes. All proceeds for the event will go to pediatric research at the University of Kansas Cancer Center and the KU Kids Healing Place. There's a cupcake tasting and competition, face painting and a cupcake walk. The event runs from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Johnson County Community College.
