KANSAS CITY, Mo. - It's time to tell your kids to put the phone down. According to a new study, they're not just getting hurt by texting and driving. They're also getting hurt by just walking and texting.
The study by Safe Kids Worldwide, shows one in five high school students get distracted because of their phones. In turn, this puts them at risk of getting hit by a car.
Wearing headphones is just as distracting. With school about to start again, the organization urges parents to talk to their kids about being safe and alert.
