KC Hopps Chef Ryan Sneed's root beer braised ham for Mother's Day

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - If you don't feel like heading out to a Mother's Day brunch, don't be afraid to try this recipe for root beer braised ham from Chef Ryan of KC Hopps restaurants He says it's one of his son's favorites.

1 qt pork broth or chicken broth

1 20-ounce bottle of your favorite root beer

2 cinnamon sticks

3 whole cloves

2 whole allspice

3 bay leaves

1 tbl black peppercorns.

1  5-6lb boneless, precooked ham

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Score the Ham on the top in a "XX" pattern lightly ( about 1/8"-1/4" deep).  Combine all of the ingredients in a large baking dish, then place the ham in the liquids. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and then aluminum foil. Bake for 2 hours.
