Holiday schedule for local area public services

What's open during the holidays?

KANSAS CITY, Missouri - The schedules for local area buses, trash services, drop-off centers and libraries during Christmas and New Year's:

Metro Flex
Christmas Eve- runs on a normal schedule.

Christmas Day- runs from 7am-3pm.

New Years Eve- runs on a normal schedule.

New Year's Day- runs from 7am-3pm.

Metro Area Express (MAX)
Christmas Eve- runs on the regular schedule.

Christmas Day- runs on the Sunday schedule.

New Years Eve- runs on the regular schedule.

New Year's Day- runs on the Sunday schedule.

Troost MAX
Beginning New Year's Day, Troost MAX will serve downtown, the Crossroads, Hospital Hill, and midtown, going south along Troost to Bannister.

North of 75th Street, Troost MAX will run every 10 minutes on weekdays.

JOCO Transit (The JO)
Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day.

Johnson County Library
Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Will also be closed New Years Eve and New Years Day.

Kansas City Public Library
Will close at 5:00 p.m. Christmas Eve and will remain closed until Sunday morning.

Library will close at 5:00 p.m. New Years Eve...will remain closed until Sunday morning.

Olathe Waste Services
Saturday's commercial businesses will be collected Friday.

Residential areas will be picked up on the regular schedule.

Trash will pick up Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, no trash pickup Christmas Day and New Years Day.

KCMO Solid Waste Services (trash, recycling, etc)
Will be on a regular schedule. Trash will pick up on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.

KCMO does not pick up trash on the weekends.

All next week will be unlimited trash pickup.

Drop-off Centers
Drop-off centers for recycling, leaves and brush will be closed on Friday Dec. 24, Saturday Dec. 25, and Saturday Jan. 1.

Christmas trees can be disposed at the City's Leaf and Brush Drop-off Centers.

The centers will be open Saturdays Jan. 8 and 15 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and are located at 1815 N. Chouteau Trafficway (just south of the Missouri river) and 10301 Raytown Road (south of Interstate 470).

After Saturday Jan. 15, the City's Leaves and Brush Drop-off centers will close for the winter and reopen in mid March.
