KANSAS CITY, Mo. - They were buying for others, but had plenty of ideas of what others should get them. With the sound of Christmas carols in the air, last-minute shoppers on the Country Club Plaza had a wide range of answers when asked what they wanted for Christmas.
Some mentioned electronics, while others wanted clothes. One man asked for a car, since his old one was totaled in a crash.
Becky Brown got her Christmas wish the night before Christmas Eve. Barney Logan delivered a marriage proposal and an engagement ring just in time for the holidays.
"It was wonderful -- a surprise," Brown said.
Kids in the crowd wished for everything from puppies, to bikes, to Angry Birds. Many adults turned their thoughts away from material goods to things more precious -- their health, their family's well being and an end to violence in the world.
One man asked for what some would consider a true miracle -- an end to the bickering in Washington D.C. and an agreement to avoid the fiscal cliff.
