The Healthy Hawks program at the University of Kansas Medical Center helps families struggling with childhood obesity.  Jane Sosland, Ph.D. University of Kansas Medical Center, offered three tips to help parents with their children who have a weight problem.

Three things parents can do to help their child with a weight problem:
1. Remove temptations
2. Applaud healthy choices
3. Make healthy choices as a family

Healthy Hawks was founded to provide a comprehensive treatment program to help children, adolescents and their families overcome issues related to weight. Since its creation in 2004, the program has become a model for delivering cost-effective treatment in a diverse community.

Our goal is to provide families with information about making healthy changes. Benefits may include weight loss, better eating habits, increased exercise, more family time and improved self-esteem.
