Two local kids flown to White House for Kids "State Dinner"

First lady Michelle Obama encouraged kids to whip up their most creative and healthy dishes for the third annual Healthy Lunchtime Challenge

1,500 kids submitted recipes, but only 50 submissions were chosen from each U.S. state, three submissions from U.S. territories and one winner from the District of Columbia.

8-year-old Kansas native Jasmy Mavilla is one of the winners. She created the" Tangy Veggy Springetty" . The dish is just as tasty as it sounds. It mixes whole-wheat spaghetti or angel hair pasta, vegetables, parmesan cheese, with a special homemade sauce that includes shrimp.

I love to help my dad grow vegetable and fruits in our home garden, and I love to help my mom use those veggies in different ways with our cooking." She said on her Let's Move Blog.

Representing Missouri, 10-year-old Joshua Murphy. He created the  "Asian Chicken Meatball and Cauliflower Rice Tortilla" dish. It combines ingredients like chicken, honey and Sriracha for the sauce.

“My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago, so she is trying to teach me about using healthy ingredients and why it is important to know what I put in my body," Murphy said on his blog.

All 54 winners and their parents/guardians were flown out to the White House for the third annual Kids "State Dinner".
