The morning news went to the dogs on Tuesday.

But, in the best and most comfortable way possible!

Wayside Waifs is our area’s largest no-kill pet adoption campus and, now, there’s a new way to pamper your pets and yourself out there off of Martha Truman Road.

The Courtesy Comfort Station is the gateway to their five acre off-leash Bark Park.

Tuesday morning, two great four-footed friends, Ozzie and Harriet, helped us show it off.

Thanks to a generous donation from the Harold and Marilyn Melcher Foundation, this custom made facility provides air-conditioned or heated comfort depending on the season.

Other features include a no-slip floor, a paws-washing station, hot and cold drink machines, picnic tables and, very important, pet friendly bathrooms.

The Bark Park and Comfort Center are well lit and accessed only with a magnetic entry key card making it a safe place for you and your furry friend 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Daily passes are $3.00 with monthly and yearly options available, as well.

All of that money goes to saving pets’ lives.

In fact, Communications and Annual Giving Manager, Casey Waugh, said that thanks to the Melcher’s, none of the money donated to do the important daily work was used to create this great oasis for pups and their human friends.

The ribbon cutting for this unique spot is Wednesday, July 27 at 4 p.m.

Get out there and raise the “woof!”
