A Kansas City bank is making payday a little easier for local businesses.
This week, Lead Bank launched a prepaid, reloadable Visa card small business owners can use to pay employees. Described as a win-win for both, the card saves time and money that comes with paper checks and allows workers without bank accounts to avoid check cashing places.
"It's supplied with a routing number and account number so they can plug that in there and issue their payroll just like they traditionally do; and it's just conveniently transfers the money over and they have access instantly," Kelli Buckner with Lead Bank said.
Lead Bank said 18 percent of people in Johnson County are under banked, meaning for one reason or another they have poor access to mainstream financial services.
