KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Hundreds of shoppers waited in the cold overnight, all in anticipation of stores opening for business on Black Friday.
More than 500 people waited outside Nebraska Furniture Mart at the Legends shopping center in 25-degree weather, with some waiting for more than 12 hours. Many were spured by the store's offer of $20 tablet computers.
Unlike other stores pushing Black Friday bargains to Thursday, the furniture store was not open on Thanksgiving, meaning shoppers were more than ready to buy.
One group had been shopping since 7 p.m. Thursday, and had not stopped to rest Friday morning. "We're die-hard," said Paige Wymore-Wynn.
Nebraska Furniture Mart was ready for the big crowds – approximately 1,100 employees had to come to work today to help control the chaos.
