JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Attorney General Chris Koster is now warning Missourians about a scam related to the Target data breach.
Koster says some criminals are calling or emailing people asking for their personal and financial information.
They claim to work for Target or a credit card company, and say they need information to investigate the security breach.
The attorney general's office says neither Target nor a credit card company would ask for personal information by phone or email.
Consumers should also be alert as they travel and shop in the coming days. Some card issuers may limit the amount of cash that can be withdrawn from an affected card or limit the amount of purchases made in a given day.
All questions regarding a particular card should be directed to the issuer of the card.
