KANSAS CITY, Mo. - If you have hail damage from Wednesday's storm and happen to be a State Farm customer, you can get a check immediately for damage by making an appointment for the drive-thru hail damage assessment at the former Kmart store parking lot at 5615 E. Bannister Road in Kansas City.
Insurance agents are swamped with claims so they decided a drive through service is the best way to help hundreds of policy holders with hail damage from severe storms. They'll help between 60-70 customers Thursday and are booked through Friday, too. Insurance agents tell 41 Action News they'll keep the drive through service open into the weekend and next week in order to help everyone with damage.
Of the cars they've seen, insurance agents say the damage is extensive to the hoods, doors and windshields. Since the hail came in different shapes and sizes, assessing the car takes a careful eye.
Jim Kachelmuss, from State Farm Insurance, explained the damage they've seen.
"We've seen some golf ball size hail damage, nickel and dime size hail damage. It really ranges by the amount of wind blowing during the storm, the type of car and the area the car was parked," he said.
The agents' goal is to get you in and out with a check within 30 minutes, as long as you make an appointment by calling 1-800-732-5246.
Regardless of your insurance company, you may want to check your policy. Typically collision and liability insurance do not cover hail damage, but comprehensive coverage does.
