Farmers' insurance could help dairy prices

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Insurance for dairy farmers could help your budget at the grocery store.

The farm bill, signed by President Barack Obama, allows farmers to get insurance for major losses. That will help consumers when buying dairy products.

“If you see farmers going out of business, it’s going to mean the costs of your products in the grocery store are going to go up,” said one local farmer.

In 2008 and 2009, farmers suffered because dairy prices fell and feed prices rose.
