Gas prices plummeting; Kansas and Missouri dropping even faster than national average

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Gas prices in Kansas and Missouri have plummeted in the last month at a rate more than twice that of the national average.

In Missouri, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded stands at $3.256, the lowest in the nation, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report. Drivers in Kansas are paying more, about $3.425.

But prices in both states have dropped more than 38 cents in the last month, while the U.S. average has dropped only about 21 cents, AAA says.

The drop is even bigger in the Kansas City metro, with prices dropping more than 45 cents on both sides of the state line.

In Kansas City, Mo., drivers are paying just $3.240 per gallon. In Kansas City, Kan., the average price is $3.336.
