July Fourth beer sales expected to skyrocket in Missouri and Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Missouri and Kansas folks sure do like to have a good time. According to the Kansas City Business Journal and the Beer Institute, Missouri is ranked No. 18 in terms of beer consumption.

Pair that with the upcoming Fourth of July holiday and it'll come as no surprise that beer sales are expected to skyrocket this week.

According to the Beer Institute, sales could reach as high as $1 billion this holiday, topping wine and hard-liquor sales. Last year, beer shipments to Missouri totaled 31 gallons per capita and 28.3 gallons per capita in Kansas.

Kansas ranked No. 31 in beer consumption with North Dakota, New Hampshire, Montana , South Dakota and Wisconsin topping the list.
