Car crashes through garage sale in Raytown, families happy no children hurt

RAYTOWN, Mo. - Jessica Williams said the moments after the first crash was horrifying for her and her family at their garage sale Friday afternoon in Raytown, Mo.

“It was chaotic,” Williams said. “All I saw was this car come careening through the garage sale right where the kids had been. I didn’t even realize the kids had gone inside. I thought they were still there.”

Williams said she doesn’t know what led the SUV into the tree.

The crash also involved a blue minivan that hit Jessica Coulter’s car.

“My older daughter was in the back, and my little one was in the side and I was standing outside of it looking at something in the garage sale,” Coulter said. “All of the sudden the car came and all of a sudden it hit it. It was scary.”

Witnesses said both drivers were hurt and taken to a hospital.

As the chaos cleared, the families are grateful for their lives.

“We just thank god that everyone is okay, and no one is injured," Coulter said.

Police are investigating what led to the crash.

The driver of the car that crashed suffered minor injuries.
