6 arrested after Kansas City carjacking, standoff

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Six people were arrested Tuesday night after a parking lot carjacking that eventually led to a standoff.

According to police, officers were called a few minutes after 9 p.m. to the Thriftway store, 4400 E. 39th St., on a report of a carjacking.

The victim told police she was leaving the store when six men – one armed with a gun - carjacked her.

Officers spotted the unoccupied stolen vehicle at about 9:30 p.m. in the 3600 block of Spruce. A witness told police the suspects had walked into a nearby residence.

Officers surrounded the house, in the 3500 block of Spruce, for about two hours. Six people surrendered without incident at about 11:30 p.m.

Charges in the case were expected Wednesday, police said.
