Lansing prison escapee captured

LANSING, Kan. - UPDATE, 4:26 p.m.: Emons has been captured in Leavenworth, according to a prison official. Additional charges are pending.

ORIGINAL STORY: Authorities are searching for an inmate who walked away from a work crew at Lansing Correctional Facility early Monday morning.

Ronald J. Emons, 52, went out to the water reservoir on K-5 Highway by the facilities east unit around 6 a.m., according to the Fort Leavenworth Facebook page.

Staff realized he was missing around 10 a.m.

He is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs 110 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a light-colored t-shirt, jeans and black boots.
