Search warrant served in Arrowhead death investigation

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Authorities have served a warrant at an Independence home to collect evidence in relation to a death that occurred outside Arrowhead Stadium. Police said they are calling it a suspicious death or possible homicide.

The house is located in the 400 block of N. Ponca Drive. KCPD is working the case because the crime happened in their jurisdiction.

Police were inside for around 15 minutes to secure the home. Three dogs and one dog carrier were removed. Crime scene investigators will now enter to search for evidence.

A man died and three people were taken in for questioning after an altercation following the Chiefs game against the Denver Broncos Sunday night.

Kansas City police spokesman Officer Darin Snapp said the man who died was found inside someone else's vehicle and a struggle ensued.

When paramedics arrived, the man, who was in his 20s, was found lying unconscious on the pavement, Snapp said. Paramedics began administering first aid before he was transported to a hospital, where he died. Police have not released his name.

The three people are still in custody but are expected to be released Monday. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death, according to a news release from police.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call the TIPS Hotline, 816-474-TIPS.
