Daughters add $2,000 to reward to find father's killer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The daughters of a local homicide victim have pooled together to triple the reward money to find his killer.

Eugene Pettiford was murdered in his Kansas City home last July in what police believe was a robbery gone bad. Witnesses say they saw three men running from the home.

Pettiford's daughters, Reanna Jefferson, Rhea Pettiford and Kara Jefferson, contributed $2,000 of their own money to increase the Crime Stoppers reward to $3,000.

"There are so so so many homicides here in Kansas City and a lot of them going unsolved because people have this I don't want to snitch mentality," said Reanna Jefferson, Pettiford's eldest daughter.

In the months since his death his family has dealt with the first holidays without him and very soon even bigger milestones.

"I won't have him here for my 18th birthday or I won't have him here for my graduation," said Rhea Pettiford.

Anyone with information about the murder is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477. You can also text TIPS452 to 274637 (CRIMES) or you can submit it through the Crime Stoppers website by clicking here .
