Former KCK cop accused of threatening to harm police captain, chief

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A 15-year veteran of the Kansas City Kansas Police Department is in a Leavenworth jail after being arrested Thursday for allegedly threatening law enforcement leaders.

John D. Hudson is charged with four federal counts of retaliation. He allegedly told someone that Police Chief Rick Armstrong and Captain Greg Lawson were "black rats" who would be eliminated. According to the indictment, Hudson threatened to cause bodily harm to both Armstrong and Lawson.

Hudson allegedly targeted Armstrong and Lawson for giving FBI agents information about a federal civil rights violation. The indictment did not outline any of the details of the alleged violation.

Hudson is expected back in court on Wednesday, May 29, at 3:30 p.m.
