Kansas City homeowner shoots would-be robber

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police say a would-be robber was shot by a homeowner in Kansas City Thursday afternoon.

Authorities say the suspect tried to rob a home in the 10600 block of Greenwood, just south of Interstate 470 and James A. Reed Road, around 12:15 p.m.

The homeowner shot the suspect, who fled and made it about three miles to 87th and Blue Ridge, where he was caught by police.

The extent of the suspect's injuries was not immediately clear.
