Police are investigating a homicide after a man's body was found inside a residence on the east side of Kansas City.
Authorities were called to a home in the 3600 block of Flora Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday following an ambulance call.
When officers arrived, they found a dead man inside the residence. He was later identified as Michael Hawkins.
Police say the house was abandoned and several homeless people were living there. Someone staying at the residence found the victim and called police, but left before police arrived.
Officials have declared the death as a homicide. There is no suspect description at this time.
