Kansas City, Missouri, police are investigating the third homicide in 24 hours.

Officers responded to a shots fired call in the 8400 block of Wayne after 1:30 p.m. Monday. When officers arrived, they found a male victim slumped over the wheel of a car dead.

The victim has been identified as Earl Watson, 33, of Kansas City, Missouri.

It’s the 87th homicide in KCMO this year.

"Unfortunately, this is not new for us. It should be. It should be devastating to our community. We are at 87 homicides at this point, and we have got to make some changes," said Sgt. Kari Thompson with the Kansas City Police Department.

If you have any information you are asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
