JACKSON COUNTY, Mo. - A local attorney has been arrested for the October 2010 homicide of her father.
Susan "Liz" Van Note was indicted on first-degree murder and forgery charges Friday in connection with the homicide of her father, 67-year-old William Van Note, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's office.
Van Note and his longtime girlfriend, 59-year-old Sharon Dickson, were found shot to death in their Sunrise Beach, Mo., home in October 2010.
Liz Van Note, 44, lives in Lee's Summit, Mo., and is an attorney and the president of Van Note Law Offices in Kansas City, Mo.
Jackson County Sheriff's deputies took Van Note into custody at around 1:30 p.m. Friday. Two other suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the case as well.
Stacey Dory and Desre Dory of Shawnee, Kan., both face second-degree murder and forgery charges. They were arrested by Johnson County Sheriff's deputies on Friday.
Brenda Toates owns a Liberty flower shop that Dickson use to own and has known both victims for years.
"There are so many people that knew Bill and Sharon and have loved them and enjoyed their company," Toates said.
She's kept a picture of the pair taped to her office wall since their funeral and continues to send her thoughts to the family.
"There (are) grandchildren involved that are not going to have their grandparents for special days," Toates said. "Sharon's son and daughter-in-law are not going to be able to enjoy her. I think that is the saddest thing out of all of this."
Details regarding how police were lead to Friday's arrests were not released because prosecutors said the indictment was sealed pending the arrests. Prosecutors said the indictment will be unsealed after the three defendants are arraigned, which is expected to be sometime next week.
