Man accused of stealing Maserati from Merriam car dealer

MERRIAM, Kan. - A man stole a car valued at more than $100,000 from a Merriam car dealer.

Sanford Willis, 46, of Kansas City, is charged in Johnson County District court with theft of more than $100,000.

Willis allegedly wrote a bogus check for $120,000 for a 2014 Maserati Quattroporte at Aristocrat Motors.

The dealership at 9400 West 65th St. specializes in luxury cars, including Maserati and Mercedes-Benz.

The car was gone for nearly two weeks before it was found at a house in Grandview.

Police said the car will soon be returned to the dealership.
