Person of interest arrested in murder of 15-year-old Missouri girl found in Truman Lake

WILLARD, Mo. - A person of interest in the death of Khighla Parks was arrested on Monday.

Anthony Balbirnie, 47, was arrested Monday evening after a car chase. Police called him a person of interest in Parks' death. The 15-year-old Missouri girl's body was found in Truman Lake.

Benton County officials charged Balbirnie on Tuesday with abandonment of a corpse. Charges were not filed as of Tuesday afternoon in Dallas County or Greene County, where the chase happened.

Khighla was reported missing from her home in Willard, Mo., on Sept. 20. Her body was found in Truman Lake 10 days later.

Balbirnie has a lengthy criminal history including possession of drugs, assault, unlawful use of weapon, and resisting arrest.
