A man is accused of pushing a 91-year-old woman from a stolen car and leading police on a high-speed chase Tuesday night.

According to court documents, Eduardo Escobar, 25, of Kansas City, approached two women in the parking lot of a Walgreens at 5400 Independence Ave.

Escobar told the driver, a 63-year-old woman, to get out of the car, according to a court document. The woman told police he also pointed a handgun at her.

Escobar jumped into the vehicle and hit a car as he sped from the parking lot.

The 91-year-old passenger asked Escobar if he was stealing her car, according to the court document. The woman told police Escobar shoved her out of the passenger door and onto the street.

A cellphone left in the car allowed police to track the stolen car.

Escobar led officers on a high-speed chase through the Northland. The chase ended when Escobar crashed into a grassy berm near 15050 N.W. Brink Meyers Road,

Escobar tried to run away, but was quickly arrested.

He is a convicted felon in Missouri and is in the country illegally, according to the court document.

Prosecutors charged him Wednesday with robbery and armed criminal action.
