Man exposes himself to Olathe 11-year-old on way to school

OLATHE, Kan. - The Olathe Police Department is searching for a man who exposed himself to an 11-year-old Wednesday morning.

According to a release from Olathe police, the suspect is described as a dark-haired white or Hispanic male wearing a black baseball style hat and dark hoodie. He followed the victim near Ferrell Street and Alta Lane in a red and silver pick-up truck around 8 a.m., where he got out of his truck and exposed himself.

The school district sent a letter home with parents Wednesday afternoon, letting them know of the incident.

"It's suck and disgusting and I don't like it at all, it's absolutely horrible," Matt Godsey said, who lives just two houses down from the intersection where police said the incident happened.

"It's terrible because in years gone by, you never heard of things like that happening," Janet Rector said, who sees about 20 students walking to school from her home each morning.

Rector said police told her another vehicle pulled up beside the truck and the girl, prompting the suspect to speed off.

If you have any information regarding the incident, please call Olathe police at 913-971-6950 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
